In Dene Cottage we have a guest book, the following are some comments left by our guests.

“The Orkney Isles are a magical place and Dene Cottage is the perfect base from which to experience them. Not only are there all round views and complete peace, the cottage is cosy, comfortable and equipped to a high standard. We found everything there that we needed, down to plastic tubs in which to pack our picnics! The beds are comfy, the shower generous and there are even binoculars with which to spot the Hen Harriers and Short-eared Owls which hunt in the field behind the cottage. Set centrally in the West Mainland, many of the archaeological sites are within easy reach, as are Kirkwall and Stromness. We had lots of prompt and friendly information and advice from Carolyn, helping to make our fortnight stay an unforgettable memory.”                                                                                                     Lucinda, Hampshire

We’ve enjoyed staying at Dene Cottage very much.  The setting is lovely with superb birds to entertain us, especially the short eared owl that visited several times and posed beautifully on the fence post!  It’s a very relaxing situation and central for visiting all the sites and bird reserves.  Orkney is lovely.  A highlight was finding a Primula Scotica!
